I can't believe I never got around to posting this, well, during the actual fall, but one of our favorites at Material Life, artist Armina Mussa, was profiled in the fall 2018 issue of Domino magazine about her favorite places in New Orleans, and she named us! As the Brits would say, I was that chuffed! AND she mentioned our wonderful BWAFGU Little Free Library located in our garden, which was created and dedicated by another of our favorites, the brilliant Stevie Elem, and which is stocked exclusively with books by Black women authors. So I'm going to return the favor and strongly recommend that you check out Armina's self-published artist book, Unknown, Wyoming. It's a striking and courageous visual exploration of Armina's process of healing from the trauma of a near-fatal, horrific assault she endured. Both of these young women, Armina & Stevie—they're the real deal. Keep your eye on them. (& yeah, that's not the Fall 2018 cover above [it's the Summer issue], but love those two ladies, too!)
